'Purple Commotion' Acrylic On Canvas
A dutch pour is an acrylic paint pouring/fluid art technique that uses air to move the paints on a canvas. You can use a hairdryer, straw and lungs/mouth, or anything that blows air.
For this piece, I wanted black negative space, which is the area around the main focal point of the painting; the ‘light between the trees.’
I chose the purples and metallic gold to make a deep contrast between negative and positive space, drawing the eyes to this stunning and striking composition. I decided upon the 'black' negative space to evoke a feeling of magic and mysteriousness.
These particular pours are known for the ribbon-like edges and cell lacing that can be achieved using this technique.
"A dark and mysterious pour, which would be a real focal piece in any home or office space."
Canvas Size: Approx 30 x 60 cm (12 x 24 inch)
